Kalon AI Review (2026): Two Weeks With the Coin-Based Companion

Privacy: what Kalon AI stores and who sees it

The short version: Kalon AI’s privacy policy is better than its marketing, and the marketing is the problem. The policy, effective February 4, 2026, is signed by Kalon, LLC at a Carson City, Nevada address, and it is a real document with real commitments. The landing pages then promise things the document does not.

What the Kalon AI privacy policy actually commits to

Three clauses matter for anyone using an adult companion. First, training: the policy says Kalon AI does not use “your private chats, NSFW content, images, voice data, or other personal information to train third-party or general-purpose AI models.” That is a stronger line than most of the platforms on our privacy scorecard manage. Read it carefully, though: it rules out third-party and general-purpose models. It does not say Kalon AI never uses your chats to improve its own companion models, and I could not find a clause that does.

Second, sale: the California notice says Kalon AI does not sell personal information and has not in the preceding twelve months, and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Third, deletion: you email [email protected], Kalon AI confirms within ten business days and aims to answer within 45 days, extendable to 90. Those rights are written for California residents and then extended to all US states and to EEA and UK users. There is no in-app delete-everything button that I could find; deletion is an email and a wait.

What the policy stores is broad and honestly listed: account details, tokenised payment data, chats and prompts, uploaded and generated images and video, voice data from voice chat and journaling, device and IP information, and city-level location. Retention is “as long as reasonably necessary”, which is the phrase every policy in this category uses and which tells you nothing. The California notice references retention charts that were not populated on the page when I read it.

Where the Kalon AI marketing outruns the policy

The home page describes the NSFW chatbot as “encrypted explicit chat”. The virtual-companion page goes further: “All conversations are encrypted and stored securely. No chat data is shared with third parties, used for advertising, or accessible to anyone except you.” The privacy policy contains no encryption claim at all. It lists categories of third parties who receive personal data, including speech-processing providers for the voice features, analytics companies, customer-support providers and age-verification vendors, and it says plainly that “no website, mobile application, system, electronic storage, or online service is completely secure.”

Both cannot be true in the way a reader would understand them. Transport encryption is standard and almost certainly in place; “accessible to anyone except you” is not what a policy that names speech-processing vendors describes. Several third-party reviews repeat “end-to-end encryption” as if it were a Kalon AI feature; I could not find that phrase on any official Kalon AI page, and the policy does not support it. The privacy score of 6 is the policy’s decent baseline minus the gap between what the landing pages say and what the legal document says.

Age verification and company footprint

Kalon AI’s age-verification policy uses a tiered approach: an 18+ confirmation gate by default, and third-party ID or electronic-identity verification where the law requires it, which it names as the UK under Ofcom guidance, some EU member states and some US states. It states that Kalon AI does not store government IDs and that verification tokens are deleted once no longer legally required. The company itself is thin on the public record. The terms and privacy policy name Kalon, LLC under Nevada law; the address is a Carson City registered-agent style address rather than an office. The comparison pages on kalon.ai give 2024 as the launch year, while the kalon.ai domain has been registered since March 2023 behind a privacy proxy and the site is hosted on Vercel, per ScamAdviser’s domain record. None of that is a red flag for a small adult platform, but it is a young company with no named founders, and I weight that when deciding how much personal detail to feed a companion. The Kalon AI coin economy, explained

Every plan on Kalon AI is a coin balance, and the whole pricing question is whether the balance lasts. The official figures are simple: 50 coins a day free, 16,000 a month on the $19.97 Monthly plan, 200,000 a year on the Yearly plan billed at $119.64. The Yearly allowance works out to roughly 16,700 coins a month, so the two paid plans are near-identical in coins and the yearly one costs half as much. There is no reason to take the monthly plan except to try the paid features for one cycle before committing.

What coins buy on Kalon AI

Kalon AI’s own description is that text uses the fewest coins, images more, and voice and video more again. That is the entire official documentation of per-action cost. The FAQ page has a heading called “How do coins and subscriptions work?”, but the answer text did not load in any version of the page I could fetch, and none of the landing pages give a number. What I can say from using it and from consistent third-party reports: a text reply costs very little, an image costs on the order of ten coins per generation in the reports I have seen, and video clips are the expensive line. Treat those as directional, not as a price list, because Kalon AI has not published one.

In practice this means the free 50 coins are a real day of chatting with a picture or two, and the free balance “disappears fast once you start asking for pictures”, as one independent reviewer put it and as I found too. It also means the paid allowance is generous for text-first users and merely adequate for anyone who wants a video clip every session. The fine print on Kalon AI coins

The terms of service are clear about what coins are not. They have “no cash value”, are “non-redeemable for cash”, “non-transferable”, and “will expire if your account is terminated or deleted, whether by you or by us.” The cancellation policy says nothing about whether unused coins survive a cancelled subscription; on the reading of the terms, the plan benefits run to the end of the billing cycle and the balance is a plan benefit. Do not bank coins expecting them to sit there after you stop paying.

Refunds follow the same pattern as most of the category: “All payments are final and non-refundable unless required by applicable law.” EU and UK consumers get the statutory 14-day withdrawal right, but the terms say you consent to immediate performance and lose that right once you begin using the service, and the cancellation policy adds that Kalon AI “may charge you a proportionate amount for the period of use.” Cancelling itself is straightforward: Settings, Subscription tab, Unsubscribe, with access continuing to the end of the cycle. Price changes require 30 days’ notice. Disputes go to individual arbitration through NAM with a class-action waiver, except for EU and UK consumers.

The single-balance model is not unusual; Nastia meters by tokens and Secrets by Moments, and the same rule applies on all three: the balance is a plan benefit, not money you own. There is also a referral scheme worth knowing about: when a friend you refer subscribes, both accounts receive 500 bonus coins, per the affiliates page. The same page describes a 30-day cookie, a $20 payout threshold, bank transfer only and net-30 payment for affiliates, and it does not publish a commission rate. Images and video on Kalon AI

Image generation is the feature Kalon AI markets hardest, and it is competent: consistent faces across generations, two clear styles, and a coin cost that lets free users try it. It is not the reason I would pick Kalon AI over Candy, and it is not the reason I would leave.

Styles, the creator and scene-linked images

Kalon AI offers two base engines, realistic and anime, and the AI-girlfriend page lists a wider set of visual presets on top: fantasy, soft romantic, gothic, luxury, casual and custom. The character catalogue lists around 180 pre-built characters across female and male, realistic and anime, and Kalon AI’s landing pages also advertise “1,200+ custom girlfriend templates” filtered by personality, aesthetic and relationship dynamic. The five-step creator, Profile, Appearance, Features, Physique and Details, lets you choose female, male or trans, realistic or anime, and an age between 18 and 60, and you can generate a character from an uploaded image. You can preview the wizard without an account, but generating a portrait or saving the character needs a free login.

The part I liked is what Kalon AI calls scene-linked image generation: images requested inside a chat inherit the character, mood, outfit and setting the conversation has established, so a selfie asked for mid-scene looks like the scene. The prompt guide on kalon.ai is a proper document, covering prompt order, parenthesis weighting and negative prompts, which tells you the image side is aimed at people who will tinker. Generation took a noticeable pause in my sessions rather than the “under ten seconds” some third-party reviews quote; independent reviewers also report waits of ten to fifteen seconds during peak hours, which interrupts a fast roleplay.

Video and audio on the paid plans

Video generation and audio features are listed as paid-plan features on the pricing section, and the FAQ carries a “Can I animate my images?” heading. The video is what the category calls image-to-video: a short animated clip built from a still of your companion, not a generated scene. It is the most coin-hungry action on the platform and the one I would budget for last. No official page I could open states clip length or resolution.

Audio means voice replies and voice journaling. Switching between text and voice mid-conversation is smooth, and the companion page’s daily check-in routine, a morning pulse, a midday nudge and an evening wind-down, works with voice. The voices themselves are the weakest part of the bundle: usable, consistent, and flatter than the marketing’s “natural-sounding” suggests. Independent reviews repeat “somewhat robotic” almost word for word. If voice is your main reason to pay, Kindroid is the better spend; the companion apps ranking breaks that down.

One more thing on the image side, because it matters for the consent-first pitch: the browse page shows explicit character cards before you have set any slider or enabled any mode. The consent controls govern the conversation, not the catalogue. If you want the PG-13 experience Kalon AI advertises on its virtual-companion page, go straight to creating your own character rather than browsing. If a large community library of characters is what you are after, that is a different product shape, and the NSFW chat ranking and the Character.AI alternatives list cover it better than a single-companion app can.

Kalon AI memory in practice

Memory is the feature Kalon AI leads with, and it is the feature that most justifies the price. Kalon AI calls it emotional memory, and the description on its own pages is specific: it remembers “your preferences, relationship style, story progress, and emotional context”, and on the companion side it tracks “your busy weeks”, “your habits” and adjusts tone to how your day is going. The NSFW page adds boundaries and story direction to the list. That is the right list for a companion, and it broadly matches what I saw.

What Kalon AI remembered across a week

The check I run everywhere is simple, it is described on the How we test page, and I do not pretend it is scientific: plant a personal detail and set a boundary early, then see whether either comes back a week later without me prompting. On Kalon AI both did. The detail resurfaced in a natural place in a later conversation, and the boundary I set through the slider stayed in force in a new session without being re-stated. Tone continuity was the more impressive part: a companion I had kept gentle stayed gentle the following week, rather than resetting to the template’s default energy.

Where it slipped is the slip every memory system in this category makes: occasional confident reference to something that had not happened, a detail borrowed from the character’s backstory or from a scene I had abandoned. Independent reviewers describe the same “hallucinated detail from a previous conversation”. It happened rarely enough not to break anything, often enough to notice.

What Kalon AI memory does not do

Two limits. First, the free tier gets a lighter version; Kalon AI’s pages describe “deeper memory” as one of the features that “may require an upgrade”, and cross-session recall on the free tier felt shorter to me. Second, there is no documented memory panel. Third-party write-ups say you can review, edit or delete individual memories in settings, and one landing article describes a consent-based memory system where you “decide what Kalon remembers”. I could not find that feature described on an official Kalon AI page, and I would not rely on it until it is. Kindroid and Nomi both let you manage what the companion holds in ways that are documented; Kalon AI’s approach is to let the companion sort relevance itself, which is convenient until it remembers the wrong thing.

Set against the field, Kalon AI memory is a 7: better than Candy’s short window, comparable to the mid-tier of the companion apps ranking, behind Nomi’s months-long recall and Kindroid’s paid tiers. For a platform this young that is a good place to be, and it is the reason the free tier is worth a full week rather than an afternoon.
