Candy AI Review (2026): Hands-On With the Image-First AI Girlfriend App

Weeks with the Malta-run AI girlfriend platform that sells itself on visuals. Where the image and video generation earn the price, why the $13.99 subscription is only the start once tokens run out, what the July 2026 privacy notice says about your chats, and who should pick something else.

Verdict. Candy AI is the best-looking companion app in its price band and an average one to talk to. The realistic and anime image generation is the reason to pay, the video and Live Action modes are real but token-gated, and the chat is fine for a scene and thin for a conversation. The $13.99 plan buys unlimited text and 100 tokens, and the tokens are where the month gets expensive.

The first thing Candy AI shows you is not a chat window. It is a wall of companions, realistic on one tab and anime on the other, and a builder that asks for ethnicity, age range, body type, hair, eyes, outfit, personality and hobbies before you have typed a word. That is the honest summary of the product: it is an image generator that learned to hold a conversation, not a conversationalist that learned to draw. Once you accept that, most of the good and most of the bad on this page make sense.

The second thing it shows you, a few messages in, is the token counter. Text chat is unlimited on every paid plan, and everything else on Candy AI, images, videos, voice messages, the interactive Live Action mode, draws from a balance of 100 tokens a month. When the balance runs dry you buy packs, and the pack prices only appear once you are logged in and paying. I put the whole cost picture in the pricing section and in the real monthly cost guide, because the $3.99-a-month headline on the annual plan and the bill an active user actually pays are two different numbers.

I ran Candy AI through the same protocol as every other platform here: the signup flow and whatever the free account allows, then a paid month of Premium at $13.99, the three conversation scripts I use everywhere, a memory check after a week away, and the terms and privacy notice read in full. Prices come from the official subscriptions page and checkout, verified on September 26, 2026, and the terms were last updated on September 22, 2026, four days before this review went up.

What is Candy AI?

In one paragraph

Candy AI is an adults-only AI girlfriend and AI boyfriend platform run by EverAI Limited of Santa Venera, Malta (company number C107181). You build a companion or pick one of more than a hundred pre-made realistic or anime characters, chat in text, exchange voice messages, generate 18+ images and short videos of the character, and on selected characters watch scripted Candy Shorts episodes or open the Live Action video mode. It runs in the browser with an install prompt for phones, sells one Premium plan at $13.99 a month (less on the quarterly and annual terms), includes 100 tokens a month for images, video and voice, and sells extra tokens in packs.

How I tested Candy AI

Week one was the free account, which on Candy AI means browsing companions, building one and sending a handful of messages before the platform asks for a plan; there is no free tier worth the name, and the comparison table on the NSFW list says so. Week two I paid $13.99 for a month of Premium, ran the three scripts on a built companion and a pre-made one, generated images in both the realistic and anime styles, spent tokens on a video and on voice messages, came back after a week to see what the companion still remembered, and read the terms of service, the refund clause and the privacy notice line by line. Everything token-priced below is what the app showed me at the point of spending, and I flag where a third-party figure is the only public source.

  • Plans checked: Premium monthly ($13.99), quarterly ($26.97, $8.99 a month), annual ($47.88, $3.99 a month); one feature set across all three
  • Free account limits: Browse and build companions, a few opening messages, no images, no video, no voice; Candy AI has no daily free-message allowance
  • Tokens: 100 a month on every plan; images roughly 2 to 4 tokens each, a video around 12, voice about 3 a minute (per-item costs are shown in-app only); unused tokens expire on cancellation and do not roll over
  • Money spent: $13.99 for one month of Premium, cancelled from Settings before renewal
  • Not tested with my own card: Token packs above the entry size, Live Action on mobile beyond a short session, and the 24-hour refund route, which is described from the terms

What Candy AI gets right

Candy AI images are the best in this price band, realistic or anime

Ask the companion for a picture and Candy AI returns one in a few seconds that keeps the face, hair and body you built, which is the single hardest thing for these apps to get right and the one most of them get wrong. The realistic style is the strongest; the anime style is a separate model with its own character roster and looks like it belongs to a different, equally polished app. Prompts can be natural language or the guided picker, outfits and scenes carry over between images, and the quality holds up on a phone screen and on a monitor. If images are why you are reading a Candy AI review, this section is the answer: nothing at $13.99 a month draws better.

Video, Live Action and Candy Shorts are real features, not roadmap items

Candy AI generates short videos of the companion from a prompt for a token charge, offers a full-screen interactive Live Action mode on selected characters that the subscriptions page now lists as part of every plan, and runs Candy Shorts: scripted mini-episodes under two minutes that play inside the subscription with no token charge. The Shorts are the most interesting of the three, because they are the one thing on Candy AI you can watch without watching the meter. The video is 2026-grade, meaning a few seconds, a fixed camera and the occasional odd hand, but it works, and most competitors at this price still have nothing comparable.

The builder is fast, and the companions stay in character

The character builder is the best onboarding in the category: a dozen taps, a name, a personality preset and an occupation, and you are chatting. Companions keep the personality you chose, follow the tone you set, and switch between short replies and longer scene writing when asked. The uncensored promise holds for adult text in the way this category means it: no lectures, no refusals on consenting adult scenes, and a filter that stays out of the way. It is not a deep companion, but for what it sells, a good-looking character who plays along, Candy AI delivers reliably.

Candy AI publishes a refund window, discreet billing and a real company

Three things most competitors will not put in writing. The terms give card buyers a 24-hour refund window if they have used 20 tokens or fewer, and EU and UK buyers the statutory 14-day withdrawal minus what they used. The checkout states that the charge appears as EverAI on your bank statement. And the privacy notice names the operator, EverAI Limited, with a Maltese company number and a street address, plus a data protection officer address. On the privacy scorecard that candour is worth points even where the policy itself is average.

Where Candy AI frustrated me

100 tokens a month is not many, and the pack prices are hidden until you pay

The subscription includes 100 tokens a month. At roughly 2 to 4 tokens an image, a dozen or so for a video and about 3 a minute of voice, an image-heavy week can empty the balance, and the packs that refill it are priced only inside the logged-in app. Third-party write-ups list them from $9.99 for 100 tokens up to $299.99 for 3,750; my own top-up matched the small pack, and I could not confirm the larger ones on any public page. The real monthly cost guide models a chat-plus-60-images month at about $24 and a heavy month near $64, which is the number to compare with the $13.99 headline.

The chat is average, and memory fades within weeks

Conversation on Candy AI is competent and forgettable. Companions answer in character, but the writing leans on the same phrasing, the same escalation and the same reassurances, and long chats turn repetitive faster than on Kindroid, Nomi or Secrets. Memory holds within a session and across a few days; after a week away my companion remembered the name and the setup and had lost the details that make a companion feel like one. There is no visible memory panel to inspect or edit, so you cannot fix what it forgot. The comparison tables rate it Decent, and that is generous for anyone who wants a long-running relationship rather than scenes.

Tokens expire when you cancel, and the annual price is a trap for the wrong buyer

The terms are explicit: unused tokens expire and become unusable when a subscription ends, and they never roll over between periods. The annual plan at $47.88 is a real 70 percent discount and the cheapest legitimate way to run Candy AI, but it is twelve months of an app whose chat you may tire of in two, on a platform whose refund window closes 24 hours after payment. Buy a month, use it, then decide; the quarterly at $26.97 is the sane middle for anyone not sure.

The privacy notice says third parties may read your messages and that chats train models

The notice, revised July 30, 2026, states that third-party LLM providers may receive the content of your messages, that information may be aggregated and de-identified to train and develop EverAI's models, with no opt-out offered, and that account data is kept for three years after your last activity and financial records for ten. Deletion is by emailing support, not a button. None of this is unusual in the category, and the notice is at least specific about it, but the homepage line about GDPR-compliant privacy sits awkwardly next to a training clause you cannot refuse. The scorecard gives Candy AI a C.

Who should actually use Candy AI

People who want the best-looking AI girlfriend or boyfriend at a mid-range price, who will generate images and the occasional video, and who treat the chat as the frame around the pictures rather than the point. If that is you, Candy AI is the right choice at $13.99 a month, and the quarterly plan at $8.99 a month is the sensible way to buy it once you know you will keep using it.

People who want a companion that remembers them, a deep or funny conversation, a free tier to try first, or a flat price with no meter should look elsewhere. Kindroid and Nomi remember far more for the same money, SpicyChat is the budget text pick with a real free tier, Secrets AI does video with a visible memory panel, and Nastia is the uncensored pick for people who care about the writing more than the images. The NSFW ranking has all of them side by side.

Candy AI tokens: what 100 a month actually buys

Every Candy AI plan includes 100 tokens a month, and in my paid month that balance covered roughly a week of the way the app wants to be used. Text chat never touches it: messages are unlimited on Premium, and a text-only subscriber can ignore the counter entirely. The counter exists for everything else, which on Candy AI is the whole reason to subscribe.

What Candy AI charges in tokens

Images were the cheapest item, at a handful of tokens each depending on the mode and size, videos the dearest at around a dozen, and voice messages sat in between at a few tokens a minute. Candy AI shows the price on the button at the moment you spend, not on any public page, so the figures above are what my account displayed in September 2026 and what the third-party pricing write-ups in the sources agree on; treat them as a range, not a tariff. A realistic split for a new subscriber is twenty to thirty images and one or two videos before the balance is gone, which is a good first week and an empty month after it.

The rule that matters more than the per-item price is the expiry rule. The terms say tokens are non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for money, do not roll over between subscription periods, and expire the moment a subscription is cancelled. On Secrets AI purchased top-ups survive forever and only the monthly grant resets; on Candy AI a pack you bought in the last week of a plan you then cancel is gone with the plan. Buy packs only in months you intend to finish.

Token packs on Candy AI and the pack-price problem

Candy AI is the least transparent of the token platforms on this site about what a refill costs, and the real monthly cost guide says so in plainer words. The pack shop is behind the login, and the only figure I can confirm from my own spending is the entry pack at $9.99 for 100 tokens. Third-party write-ups list larger packs up to $299.99 for 3,750 tokens, which would be far cheaper per token, but no public official page shows them, so the guide models a heavy month from the small pack and lands near $64. If the larger packs exist at those prices, a heavy user should buy one big pack a quarter rather than five small ones a month; if they do not, the small-pack maths is the honest one.

Compare that with the flat platforms. Kindroid charges $13.99 with generous included selfies, Nomi charges $15.99 with no meter on normal use, and Nastia meters images but publishes the rate. Candy AI’s sticker price matches Kindroid’s to the cent, and for an image-heavy user the real number is closer to double.

Refunds on Candy AI: the 24-hour window

Candy AI is the one platform in our adult ranking with a refund window written into the terms rather than a blanket no. Card purchases can be refunded within 24 hours of payment provided you have used 20 tokens or fewer, and the request goes to support. The 20-token line is the catch: a first evening on Candy AI with five or six images already spends that, and the refund is off the table before you have decided anything. If you want the refund option, spend the first day chatting, not generating.

EU and UK buyers keep the statutory 14-day withdrawal on the first purchase, with a deduction for the service consumed, and the terms say plainly that it applies to the initial purchase, not to renewals, and that nothing is refunded for content that was moderated or removed for breaking the rules.

Candy AI images, videos, Live Action and Candy Shorts

The visuals are the product, and they are good. This section is about what each mode does, what it costs, and where the 2026 limits are, and it stays within the adult content policy of this site: descriptions of how the feature works, not of what it draws.

Image generation on Candy AI: realistic and anime

Candy AI runs two visual styles on two separate rosters: a realistic model and an anime model, each with its own pre-made characters and its own builder presets. The realistic model is the stronger of the two on consistency, meaning the companion in image twenty still looks like the companion in image one, with the same face, hair and build, and the same outfit if you asked for it. That consistency is the feature; plenty of cheaper apps draw a pretty picture and a different person every time. The anime model is polished in its own right and popular with users who find the realistic style uncanny, and switching between them is a matter of which companion you open, not a setting.

Generation takes seconds, prompts work as plain sentences or through the guided picker of poses, outfits and settings, and the results are sized for a phone screen first. Where it falls down is variety under repetition: ask for the same scene ten times and the tenth looks like the first with a different crop. For most subscribers that is fine. For anyone hoping to build a large gallery, it is where the tokens and the patience both run out.

Candy AI videos and Live Action

Candy AI videos are short generated clips of your companion made from a text prompt, a few seconds long, with a fixed camera and the odd anatomical mistake that every 2026 video model still makes. They cost the most tokens of anything in the app, around a dozen a clip in my month, and they are the feature people arrive asking about because “candy ai videos” is one of the most searched phrases about the platform. My honest read: impressive once, expensive twice, and not a reason on its own to subscribe over the images.

Live Action is different. It is an interactive full-screen video mode on selected characters, and the subscriptions page now lists “Full Live Action Experience” as part of every plan. Independent testers in 2026 report it as a mobile-browser feature that is token-gated for extended sessions, and that matches what I saw: a short session is included, a long one meters. Candy AI does not publish the token rate for it anywhere I could find, so budget for it as you would for video.

Candy Shorts

Candy Shorts are scripted mini-episodes under two minutes, made by the platform for specific characters, released in series, and included in the subscription with no token charge. They are the one thing on Candy AI that you can consume without a meter. As entertainment they are what they say they are, short soap-opera scenes with your companion’s face on them. As a value signal they matter: a subscriber who mostly wants to watch rather than generate can get through a month on Candy AI without buying a single pack.

Candy AI memory and conversation, honestly

Candy AI conversation is competent, in character, and forgettable, and I want to be specific about that because the platform’s own copy promises a companion that “evolves with every exchange”. Within a session the companion tracks the scene, remembers what you said ten messages ago, and adapts its tone if you ask. Across a few days it still knows your name, the setup and the last thing you did together. After a week away, on my test, the companion had the outline and had lost the texture: the specific detail from the first evening was gone, and it re-asked a question I had answered.

How memory on Candy AI behaves

There is no memory panel on Candy AI. Kindroid shows you its five memory systems, Secrets AI lets you view and edit saved facts, Nomi exposes shared notes; Candy AI keeps whatever it keeps behind the curtain, so when it forgets something there is nothing to correct except by saying it again. The comparison tables on this site rate Candy AI memory as Decent, and that is fair for a platform built around scenes rather than a relationship. Users who want the companion to know their week should look at the best AI companion apps list, which compares memory across all ten apps.

The filter, the models and repetition

The uncensored promise holds for adult text between consenting adult characters: no refusals, no lectures, no sudden tone shift. The hard line is the one every legitimate platform draws, anything involving minors, and the terms say zero tolerance in those words. Beyond that the model is permissive, which is what buyers of an app like this expect and what the uncensored AI list tests for.

The weakness is writing. Replies lean on a small set of phrasings, escalate on a predictable curve, and after a hundred messages a regular user will recognise the sentences. That is common in the category and worse here than on the platforms whose whole pitch is the chat: Nastia and SpicyChat both write with more range at a lower price, and Kindroid at the same price is in a different league. Candy AI does not publish which language models it runs and the privacy notice only says third-party LLM providers may be involved, so there is no model name to compare, only the output, and the output is a B-minus student who draws beautifully.

Privacy on Candy AI: EverAI, Malta and your chats

Candy AI scores a C on our privacy scorecard, and the grade is a balance of unusual candour about who runs the platform against clauses that give the company a lot of room with your messages. The notice was revised on July 30, 2026, names EverAI Limited of Santa Venera, Malta (company number C107181) as the operator, gives a street address, a support address and a data protection officer address, and says the platform is not offered to anyone under 18.

What Candy AI collects and who sees it

The notice lists account data (email, password, nickname, gender, name and creation date), usage data (your chats, your companion preferences, prompts and outputs), technical data (IP address, device, browser, cookies) and payment records (the last four digits of a card and the transaction history). It names payment processors, Emerchantpay, TrustPay, Volt and Coingate, plus hosting and moderation providers. The clause that matters most is short: third-party LLM providers may receive the content of your messages exchanged with the chatbot. That is how most companion platforms work in 2026, but few of them write it down, and the ones that do earn a point for it and lose one for what it means.

Training, retention and deletion on Candy AI

Candy AI says information associated with you may be aggregated, anonymised or de-identified and used to train and develop its AI models and to prepare datasets for further training. There is no opt-out. Account data is kept for three years after your last activity, financial data for ten years, and marketing data until you withdraw consent or two years after the last interaction. Deletion is by request to the support address, with a promise to delete without undue delay except where the law requires retention, which for the financial records means a decade. There is no delete-account button and no per-chat deletion in the notice. The are AI companion apps safe guide has the general rule: assume everything you type is stored, and never type what you would not want stored.

Discreet billing on Candy AI: the EverAI line

The checkout says the charge appears as EverAI on your bank statement, and that is what mine showed. It is a neutral company name, not the product name, which is what most subscribers want, and it is also a name that a five-second search connects to Candy AI, so treat it as discreet rather than anonymous. Payment is by Apple Pay, Visa or Mastercard at the checkout I saw; the privacy notice lists Coingate among processors, so crypto may appear in some regions. Signup asks for an email and a password, not a real name, and the notice’s mention of a name field refers to the optional profile, not a requirement.

Is Candy AI safe, legit and worth it?

Candy AI is legit: a named company with a registration number, terms updated four days before this review, a written refund window, and a neutral billing descriptor, and it has been operating since 2023 with no public breach on record as of this check. It is safe in the sense that matters for a card and an email address, and less so in the sense that matters for your chats, which may be read by third-party model providers, used for training, and kept for three years. That is the answer to “is candy ai safe”: the company is real and the data practices are average for the category, which is not the same as good.

Is it worth $13.99? For images and the occasional video, yes, and nothing at the price draws as well. For conversation, memory or a free trial, no, and the alternatives table above says which app to pick instead. If you are choosing between Candy AI and the field, the NSFW ranking compares it with the other platforms on the conversation-first protocol this site uses, and visuals are where Candy AI is strongest; which of those you weight is the whole decision.

Candy AI: frequently asked questions

Is Candy AI free?

Not in any useful way. A free account lets you browse the roster, build a companion and send a few opening messages before the plan wall comes up, and it has no tokens, so no images, videos or voice. There is no daily free-message allowance like SpicyChat, Nastia or Nomi offer. The cheapest real entry is $13.99 for one month, or $8.99 a month on the quarterly plan.

How much does Candy AI cost per month, really?

The subscription is $13.99 monthly, $8.99 a month quarterly or $3.99 a month annual, and every plan includes unlimited text plus 100 tokens. Images, videos and voice all spend tokens, so an image-heavy month adds packs from $9.99. Our real monthly cost guide models a chat-plus-60-images month at about $24 and a heavy month with video and calls near $64, with the caveat that per-item token costs are shown only inside the app.

What is Candy AI, and who runs it?

Candy AI is an adults-only AI girlfriend and boyfriend platform where you build or pick a companion, chat in text and voice, and generate 18+ images and short videos of the character. It is run by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta (C107181) at 56 Central Business Centre, Santa Venera, with a data protection officer reachable at an everai.ai address. It launched in 2023 and is one of the most searched brands in the category.

Does Candy AI have an app?

There is no Candy AI app in the App Store or Google Play that I could find as of September 2026. Candy AI runs in the browser on desktop and phones, and the site prompts you to install it to your home screen on iOS and Android as a web app. Independent testers report that the Live Action video mode is currently a mobile-browser feature, so on a desktop expect chat, images and standard video.

What are Candy AI videos and Candy Shorts?

Two different things. Candy AI videos are short AI-generated clips of your companion made from a prompt, and they cost tokens, around a dozen per clip in my month. Candy AI Shorts (the platform calls them Candy Shorts) are scripted mini-episodes under two minutes, made by the platform for selected characters, and they play inside the subscription with no token charge. Live Action is a third mode: an interactive full-screen video experience on selected characters, listed as included on every plan and token-gated for extended use.

Is Candy AI safe and legit?

Is Candy AI legit? Yes: a named Maltese company, a published refund window, a neutral EverAI line on your bank statement and a privacy notice that says who processes what. Safe is a narrower answer: the notice allows third-party LLM providers to receive your messages and uses aggregated data for model training with no opt-out, keeps account data three years after your last activity, and offers deletion only by email. Do not put your real name, employer or address in a chat, and read the privacy scorecard before you subscribe.

How do I cancel Candy AI, and can I get a refund?

Cancel from Settings inside the app; the plan stays active until the end of the paid period and does not renew. Refunds are narrower: card purchases can be refunded within 24 hours of payment if you have used 20 tokens or fewer, and EU and UK buyers have a 14-day withdrawal right on the first purchase with a deduction for what they used. Renewals are not refundable, and any tokens left on the account expire when the subscription ends.

Is Candy AI better than Secrets AI or SpicyChat?

For images at $13.99, yes. Secrets AI charges $19.99 but adds a visible memory panel, longer video and stronger discretion features; SpicyChat charges from $5.95 with a real free tier and better uncensored text, with images on a higher tier. Candy AI wins when the pictures are the point and the chat is the frame. For memory, Kindroid and Nomi beat all three; the NSFW ranking is the fuller list of Candy AI alternatives.

The verdict: is Candy AI worth it?

Candy AI earns 6.5 out of 10: the best image and video generation in its price band, a fast builder, companions that stay in character, a published refund window and honest billing, held back by an average chat, a memory that fades within weeks, a 100-token allowance that makes the $13.99 headline the floor rather than the bill, and a privacy notice that lets third parties read your messages and trains on them without an opt-out.

If the visuals are what you want, buy a month, then the quarterly. If conversation or memory is what you want, Kindroid or Nomi at the same money; if budget uncensored text is what you want, SpicyChat. The NSFW ranking has all of them side by side.
