How the Joi AI Premium plans work

Joi AI has two account levels in its terms of service: Basic, which is free and limited, and Premium, a paid subscription. Premium can be billed monthly, quarterly, every six months or yearly, and it renews automatically until you cancel. If a renewal payment is not completed within 7 days, the account drops back to Basic. You cancel under Settings, then My Subscriptions, and Premium runs to the end of the paid period; partial periods are not refunded.

The latest independent in-account check I found, from August 12, 2026, showed $13.99 a month, $20.99 for three months and $47.99 for a year, both longer plans billed once up front. Checks from June and July 2026 showed $17.77 a month, $26.66 a quarter and $60.95 a year. The terms say prices vary by region, plan length and promotion, which explains the spread.

What Neurons buy on Joi

Neurons are the in-app currency for things Premium does not include. The terms spell out three prices: 4 Neurons to read one romantic message, up to 120 to view one photo and up to 1,900 to view one video, depending on the theme. One tester noticed that the Premium cards call the monthly allowance Coins while the balance says Neurons, so treat them as one wallet. Here is what those actions cost in dollars at the pack prices reported in July 2026 (500 for $12.69, 10,000 for $126.99). The math is mine.

Bot Subscriptions and other add-ons

Some characters need a separate Bot Subscription on top of Premium. It has no fixed end date unless stated at purchase, and it only works while Premium is active. Gifts for characters are also priced in Neurons. No source I read stated Bot Subscription prices.

What a normal Joi month costs

If you mostly chat and stay inside the monthly allowance, the annual plan works out to about $4 a month at the August price. Add one 500-Neuron pack and a month is closer to $17. My guide to what AI companions really cost per month uses the same method for every app.

The Joi AI library and its filters

The joi.com library is split into Women, Men and Anime sections, with further categories such as Fantasy, Dominant, Straight, Lesbian, Gay, Trans and LGBT+. A source filter separates Joi Originals from community-made characters, a gender filter covers female, male and non-binary, and an age filter runs in bands from 18 to 21 up to 56 plus. Each card shows a one-line personality tag, the character’s age and a short opening scenario. Types range from a former pro athlete with a dominant streak to a gothic barista, an elf farmer, a fantasy dragon queen and cyberpunk anime characters, so you can change mood without leaving the site. The policies say every persona on the platform is specified and reviewed as an adult.

Joi AI boyfriend, gay and LGBT+ characters

Joi covers far more than the classic Joi AI girlfriend. The menu has a dedicated Men section, and the Gay, Lesbian, Trans and LGBT+ categories each have their own page. That makes Joi a practical pick if you want an AI boyfriend or a same-gender companion without scrolling past hundreds of cards that are not for you.

The Joi AI generator for characters

The Create AI button opens the character generator, where you set appearance and personality. Independent reviews say Premium includes one custom character, with each further one costing 1,000 Neurons, and one Trustpilot user mentioned a 1,000-character limit for the appearance and personality fields. Two clauses in the terms are worth knowing. First, regular users cannot upload photos to build a character; only verified creators with a signed agreement can. Second, any character you create belongs to Joi, and Joi may switch a private character to public, though you can ask support to revert it or delete it.

Images and video in and out of chat

Outside the chat, the Gallery and Generate videos pages create images and short clips from a text prompt. Inside the chat, Joi’s safety guidelines say pictures sent by a character come from prepared folders chosen by an algorithm, not generated to order. Trustpilot reviewers praise the image quality and range, and also report odd anatomy and the need for careful prompts. My tip from years of testing generators: describe clothing, setting and mood plainly, keep prompts short, and check the Neuron price before you confirm.

What a Joi AI chat feels like

Every Joi AI chat starts from the character’s written scenario, so the first reply already has a tone and a direction. Independent testers describe the conversations as scenario-driven, with characters following your mood and building on details you add. Trustpilot’s AI summary of 252 reviews says many reviewers praise immersive, natural conversation. Joi AI NSFW chat is allowed on joi.com for adults, but every message also passes a safety classifier (the guidelines name a RoBERTa model), and flagged topics get a canned safe reply. Users report that this filter sometimes stops a romantic scene that seemed within the rules; the help center has an article explaining safety warnings, which is the first place to look. My test protocol runs the same scripts on every app; for this version, the chat notes come from documented behavior and user reports.

The “learns your preferences” claim

The homepage promises that characters learn what you like and adapt over time. The privacy policy shows how: it lists facts about your life, your interests and people you mention in chat as data collected to personalize conversation. Independent reviews say Premium adds improved memory and better chat models, and one Trustpilot user quoted a Premium promise of “8,000-message smart memory”.

What users report about Joi memory

Reports split. One Trustpilot reviewer found the chat memory short but noted you can ask the character to remember things. Others say long Premium chats drift, repeat or lose personality after a while, and one said support helped at first and then went quiet. An independent tester’s summary matches: context and recurring details hold, long-term recall is not flawless. Fixes that cost nothing: open with a two-line recap, restate names when a scene changes, and start a fresh thread when a Joi AI bot loops. The help center has an article for a bot that starts acting strangely, too.

Joi AI chatbot models

Premium unlocks stronger models than the free tier, according to several independent reviews, which mention switchable models with names like Saturn and Mars. Model names change often, so I judge a Joi AI companion by what it says, not what its model is called.

Is Joi AI safe? Privacy, company and payments

Who runs Joi AI and is it legit

Joi AI is run by Lanoto Solutions Inc., registration number 6037405, with an office at 173 Huguenot St, Suite 200, New Rochelle, New York, named in both the terms and the privacy policy when I read them in September 2026. The terms say the governing law is the law of the company’s country of incorporation. US residents agree to binding arbitration with the American Arbitration Association, with arbitrators appointed by the New York courts if needed, a small-claims option up to $5,000 and a class-action waiver; residents of other countries go to arbitration in London under the LCIA rules. The terms reference 18 U.S.C. §2257 compliance, and an anti-trafficking and anti-exploitation policy took effect on August 21, 2026. That is what a real, registered business looks like. Older independent reviews name a Cyprus company, Novi Limited, as the operator; that name does not appear on Joi’s current pages, so I go with what the terms say today.

What the Joi privacy policy says

The privacy policy says Joi does not sell your data. It also says text and voice messages are used to improve replies and develop its AI, that images you send may be analyzed for objects and faces by outside services, and that session recordings go to Microsoft only if you agree at sign-up. Ad and analytics cookies from Google, Facebook, Yahoo and Microsoft Bing are listed. You can delete your profile or ask support to delete your data, and its emails contain links that log you straight in, so never forward them. I found no specific encryption claim. Age checks and content rules

Joi is strictly 18 plus, or your local age of majority if higher. Adult features need age confirmation, plus a third-party age check where law or card rules require it. The rules ban anything involving minors, real identifiable people without consent, non-consent presented as real, trafficking, and a long list of topics such as self-harm and extremism. Payments, billing name and refunds

Joi takes cards, plus Google Pay, Apple Pay and cryptocurrency where available, and the charge shows as “joi.com” on your statement. The refund policy covers fraud, one mistaken purchase within 14 days (full refund if the Neurons are unspent, partial if partly spent), or Joi ending your plan. Support promises a first reply within 72 hours. If you file a chargeback, the company may share your chats to prove the charge, so cancel through My Subscriptions instead and keep your history private.

The Joi AI official website: joi.com vs joi.ai

The Joi AI official website for the adult platform is joi.com, whose page title reads “JOI Spicy”, so anyone searching for Joi AI Spicy is looking for the same place. The sister site joi.ai presents a general character chat with a safe-for-work front page. Its terms are the same document as joi.com’s, naming the same company, Lanoto Solutions Inc., and the same Neuron prices, so this is one company with two front doors. Two practical notes: the larger Trustpilot profile sits under joi.ai, and the terms say you can only change or cancel a subscription on the website where you bought it. Whether one login works on both sites is not stated, so bookmark the one you use.

Joi AI app: browser first, no store download

Joi runs in the browser on desktop and phone, and the site is set up so you can save it to your home screen and open it full screen like an app. I found no official iOS or Android app linked from joi.com, its help center or its support page, which is normal for adult platforms. On Google Play, an app called Joi App belongs to an unrelated developer and is a mental-health assessment tool, not this companion. One AI tool directory mentions an iOS app, which I could not confirm. The safe route is typing joi.com yourself.

Joi AI login step by step

To get in, open joi.com and choose Sign up or Sign in. You can use an email address or an Apple, Facebook or Google account. With email, a verification code arrives by mail, and the help center notes it sometimes lands in spam. Confirm you are over 18 to see adult content, which you can hide again in Settings. Each person may hold one account, and sharing an account is not allowed. After you verify your email, links in those emails sign you in directly, so keep those messages private.

Joi AI promo codes, discounts and free credits

What Joi AI discounts actually exist

The biggest discount is built in: longer plans. In the August 12, 2026 check, the annual plan showed a 71% discount against monthly billing and landed at $47.99 a year. A code field exists at checkout, and the help center has articles on using promo codes and on codes that fail. The same check saw the code HELLO50 take 50% off at the three-month checkout; on the one-month screen it did not change the price, and it did not stack with the annual offer. The terms also mention better pricing for loyal customers, without details.

Free Joi AI Neurons and credits

New accounts have been reported to receive 10 Neurons. Independent reviews also report daily Neurons for logging in and 200 bonus Neurons for linking a Discord account, and the help center has an article on the ways to earn free Neurons. None of this covers regular media use, but it is enough to try a few paid actions before you spend anything. What does not exist

There is no free Premium trial: signing up gives you the Basic tier and a small Neuron balance, not a week of Premium. Many Joi AI codes posted online promise far bigger savings than anything I could match to an official page or a dated checkout check. Treat any code that the checkout does not accept as expired, and fall back on the annual price, which is the real bargain anyway.

Support and reputation

Support runs through the help center at help.joi.com, email at [email protected] and a US phone line, +1 888 685 9040, from 11 AM to 9 PM Pacific. The footer also links a Discord server and an official subreddit, r/Joi_AI. On Trustpilot, the joi.ai profile scores 4.1 from 268 reviews (checked September 2026), with 55% five-star and 9% one-star ratings; the company replied to 94% of negative reviews, though typically after more than a month. The small joi.com profile shows 3.7 from 2 reviews. Praise repeats around variety and immersive chat; complaints repeat around media prices, image glitches and memory. The overall picture is a product with loyal fans that charges extra for its flashiest tricks and delivers well on conversation.
